Mothers & Others Hospitality Committee

Hospitality Committee

We hope you will feel welcomed through fellowship, numerous social activities and outreach opportunities offered by being a member of Mothers and Others.  Read the monthly newsletter for information and dates; contact a hospitality committee member or your new member liaisons.  Any of these resources should accommodate your needs.

PLAYGROUPS

Playgroup Coordinator:  Natalie Walker

Playgroups provide an opportunity for our children to establish relationships with peers, and at the same time, provide a much-needed social outlet for moms.  Playgroups are arranged according to the ages of the children and like family composition.  Playgroup meeting times and locations are established within each group.  Sign-up sheets are left out on the information table at all our meetings.  Any questions regarding playgroups should be directed to the playgroup coordinator.

REFRESHMENTS FOR MONTHLY MEETINGS

Snack Coordinator:  Coordinated through evite meeting reminders

Every member is asked to sign-up to provide a snack needed at our regular monthly meetings three times during the year.  Usually we have five or six members bringing a snack so you will not have to feed everyone.  When providing a snack, keep in mind it should be one that can be easily eaten while standing, juggling children, and socializing, generally all at once.  Typically we suggest donuts, casseroles, fruit, juices, etc.  We aim to do it all, don’t we

MEALS FOR MOMS PROGRAM

Meals Coordinator:  Lori Sidler

A key part in our ministry is outreach to each other in times of need. Mothers and Others have traditionally fulfilled this mission by providing meals for members in need.  Our membership traditionally provides: three meals for childbirth, one to three meals for surgery or sickness, and as needed for members in times of personal crisis.  Members may be asked by the committee to prepare two meals at some time during the year. Since each situation is unique, time and meal delivery is to be worked out between the member in need and the provider.  If at any time you feel the need for this service for yourself or another member, please let a member of the Hospitality Committee know so that your needs or the needs of others can be met. Our goal is to help one another in times of need.  This is one of the ways that we accomplish that.  You may also contact the meals@setonmothersandothers.org , if you have any additional questions or concerns.

NEWCOMERS’ COFFEES

New Member Liaisons: Germaine Perry and Lisa Heins

The Hospitality Committee will host a Coffee for new members each Fall. We hold the Coffees in Room 230 of the Activities Building and free baby-sitting is held in the babysitting rooms.  All new members are welcomed with an invitation by mail. The coffees are a great chance for you to learn more about the group, ask any questions about the organization, and meet some new people.  Any questions regarding the Newcomers Coffee can be directed to the appropriate Coordinators, see the newsletter.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Fall Family Night Out Coordinator: Julie Washburn

The Hospitality Committee hosts a Family Fun Night for all members and their families.  Entertainment is provided for the children and is typically chosen based on a theme around which the evenings are planned.  Each member who attends is asked to sign up for a dish to share and come and enjoy a fun filled evening as you get to know Mothers & Others members and their families.  If you enjoy helping, we are always happy to have volunteers help planning and set up of these events.  Please plan to come and join in for an evening of food and fun.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA & HOLIDAY VENDOR SHOW

Coordinators: Lisa Heins

The hospitality Committee hosts a Breakfast with Santa each December.  This event is open to all members as well as the public.  The highlight of the morning is visiting with Santa and having a picture taken on his lap.  Breakfast is provided and there are many fun activities for the children.  Mrs. Santa Claus visits for a while, reading stories and leading holiday songs.  There are games such as a lollipop pull, beanbag toss, Christmas water tattoos, and a coloring table filled with holiday pictures.   Each child is given 2 free tickets to enter in a toy raffle with a chance to win the toy of their choice.  The coordination of this event relies heavily on member volunteers with a variety of sub-committees to serve.

Something new last year was our annual Vendor Show was hosted during Breakfast with Santa! It was a big success and we are repeating the venture this year! It will open an hour before the breakfast and close an hour later giving our guests plenty of time to shop with over 30 unique and exciting vendors! You won't want to miss this opportunity!

Because this Breakfast has a huge response, tickets typically go on sale in October for our Mothers and Others members first before opening to the Church.  Watch your monthly newsletter so you can get your tickets early and bring out the family for some Christmas fun!

VENDOR SHOW

Coordinator:  Katy Brandeland

You don’t want to miss our vendor show held this year in conjunction with our Breakfast with Santa event in December 2008.   This is the perfect time to look for some of those hard-to-find gifts for family members and friends.  Last year we had over 30 vendors with representatives from Creative Memories, Southern Living, Swiss Colony Occasions, Cookie Lee Jewelry, Starring Me Books and many more.   Don’t forget to mark your calendar and start thinking about those Christmas wish lists!

BRUNCH WITH THE EASTER BUNNY & SILENT AUCTION FOR CHARITY!

Coordinator:  Donna Mosera

Silent Auction Coordinator: TBD

A special treat this year is our family event Brunch with the Easter Bunny.  This event, much like the Breakfast with Santa, will be open to all members and the public as well.  The highlight of the morning is visiting with the Easter Bunny and having a picture taken on his lap.  Breakfast is provided and there are many fun activities for the children.   The coordination of this event relies heavily on member volunteers with a variety of sub-committees to serve.

We have moved our silent auction from the Spring Fling to Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. This auction solicits many amazing items to bid upon and the proceeds help our fundraising efforts, which allows us to provide support to the charities we sponsor.
