3rd Wednesdays BUNCO!
This group meets monthly to play a fun but brainless dice game. Great food and conversation allow for these groups to withstand the test of time. Below are the guidelines and rules we use to play with Mothers & Others. I'm sure it's not exhaustive, but it's a pretty good start! Really, it's simple and easy to learn! Come and join us sometime!!
Bunco Survey Results are in! We had 24 responses which is really fantastic, that's exactly half our membership! We've compiled the results and are finalizing changes which will go into effect in January 2008. Here is a summary of the new rules!
Bunco Forms - Bunco Dice Sheets, Table Tally Sheets
Bunco Rules - changes in RED
1. Max number you can host in your home? At hostesses’ discretion…16 or 20 (need tables/chairs - ask around - many folks have them to spare).
2. Potluck meal…hostess decides theme and what types of food for people to bring.
3. Members are allowed to respond first, guests may respond if there are available spots the Monday before that week’s Bunco.
4. We will keep one group.
5. Keep Winners move, change partners EXCEPT at Head Table.
6. Keep Winners with same partners at Head.
7. Use scorecards to determine your place in the first round
8. Roll 6s
9. Do not lose all of your points for a snake eyes (3 1’s)
10. Do not grab for dice on a Bunco
11. If in middle of roll when bell rings, keep rolling
12. Head table max score be 21
13. Keep current scoring system (Buncos = 21, minis = 5, all other individual 6s = 1 each)
14. Keep Minis as we do now
15. If 2 players tie for a prize, they must roll off
16. A player may not win in more than one category
17. $5 to play
18. Most Buncos (30%), Most Wins (30%), 2nd Most Wins (20%), and Most Minis (20%) win $$ based on percentage of pot. (More people that play, the bigger the pot)
19. Most Losses and Last Bunco win set cash pries of $5 each, regardless the number playing. (This $ comes from the pot! So hosting has never been easier or cheaper)
20. Cash % should be based on number of people that play that evening. (There is no longer a non-winner category.)
M&O Rules to Bunco By!
Meet 3rd
Wednesday at 7pm unless otherwise noted. We usually don’t start until 7:30p or
later.
$5 to play.
A minimum of 12
players is ideal (but we've limped along with less before). Hostess choice
for maximum depending on the size of her house. Typically between 16 and 20
(please indicate in your evite). Each table has 4 players. Players
across from one another are a "team."
Anyone needing
extra tables & chairs should send a note out to the group – lots of folks have
extras.
Each month a
different player hosts (sign-up through the
bunco coordinator)
Hostess sends out
evite to entire membership.
M&O Members have
the first option to RSVP YES before guests are invited. If you can’t make it,
please call the hostess or send an email to the group to allow for subs or
guests to be invited. Even last minute openings can
sometimes be filled. Life happens, and we all understand that, but we
still shoot for a minimum of 12 players!
Refreshments are
provided by the Hostess. There is no set rule on what to provide – appetizers,
desserts, dinner, all three, snacks…it’s the hostess’s choice. Please just be
sure to indicate what you will provide on your evite so folks know whether they
should eat dinner beforehand.
Beverages are BYOB.
Bring it On!
Actual Rules of Bunco Play – for our group!
To start, each
player chooses a scorecard with a table number on the back. Head table is 1.
Head table begins each round by ringing the bell.
We typically play 3
sets of 6 rounds in a night.
We roll only for
sixes.
Each six is worth 1
point and you keep rolling until you don’t get a six or a mini (see below).
3 sixes are BUNCO
and worth 21 points. Roller yells BUNCO and gets the traveling BUNCO item.
Rolling a BUNCO at
the Head Table or rolling a total of 21 points ends the round.
All play stops when
Head table rings bell. If in the middle of roll, you can finish. If tied, each
player gets one more roll. If the Head table Buncos before each player has had a
turn at the other tables, each player who hasn’t rolled does so at least once.
All other tables
continue playing if a BUNCO is rolled at their table.
A mini-bunco is any
set of 3 numbers other than sixes. So 3 ones, 3 twos, etc. And is worth 5 pts.
All players keep
track of their individual Wins, Losses, Buncos and Minis.
At the end of each
round the Winning Team moves to the next lower numbered table and switches
partners. Losers stay at the current table but switch partners.
At the Head table
the winning team STAYS and remains with the same partners.
At the end of 3
sets, all Wins, Losses, Minis, Buncos and Mini-buncos are tallied and prizes
allotted.
If 1 or more
players tie for a category, they roll off. Typically it’s high roll for most
categories except for Most Losses – then it’s low roll. Currently it is
possible to win more than one prize.
Most Buncos – 30%
Most Wins – 30%
2nd Most Wins – 20%
Most Minis – 20%
Most Losses – Booby Prize Provided by Hostess - $5 value
Last Bunco – Booby Prize Provided by Hostess - $5 value
All $$ above $60 is pooled for a roll-off between all Non-Winners. Sometimes it really pays to be the biggest loser!
Sometimes it is
necessary to play with a "Ghost" if there are not an 4 players at a table.
If a table only has
3 players, the player without a partner rolls for their “ghost” partner and
keeps score for all her rolls. If a table ends up with only 2 players the rolls
just go back and forth as both players have a “ghost.” Ghosts travel with their
partners, switching partners at the next table, unless they are at the Head
table, then they remain with their partners as appropriate.
